Having received his MA Fine Art in 2007 from the
University of Wales, Aberystwyth, Barry Charlton now lives in
Liverpool where he continues to develop his artistic practice.
Working in both oil paint and video, his work plays with the conventions
of portraiture in order to explore those aspects of human experience
that reside beyond empirical explanation. He has contributed to
exhibitions of a national standard including the Wales Portrait Prize,
and received a 'Highly Commended' award from
The Nationwide Mercury Art Prize, 2006.
